whats YOUR truth?

oh well hello there, didnt notice you there reading my blog.  well sit down and take load off and enjoy my blog if you will.
does anyone else feel like are religion class is, in some ways, more than just your average, run of the mill, religion class. to me, the class has a hint of philosophical lectures with religion as the topic. i enjoy our religion class. i enjoy open discussion and tough questions. and whether Dr. Borders means to or not, i enjoy watching him lead us into answering our own questions.
for most of the last 2 weeks we've been talking about perceptions and what is actual truth. to questions such as these, i think the only answer that is correct is the answer you discover for yourself. your truth can be what you see, or what you believe, or what is popularly proven to be true. your truth can be all of these, or can be none of these. to me, truth and perception is whatever you decide. agree or disagree?

  1. I completely agree with you. Some people think there is only one truth but I find that hard to believe because of the many perspectives that can be added in. You will never be able to get the straight up facts without some form of perspective twisted into it. Also, I think if someone believes with all their heart in something, than it becomes true to them. It doesn't have to be true to everyone else, as long as you are convinced than that is what makes it true. Believing in this definition of truth however, can cause many problems when it comes to things like interpreting the Bible. Anyone could just claim something completely absurd about it and then call it truth. I guess we just have to be very careful when it comes to this definition and use common sense when we listen to people's perspectives.
