the little "field trip" was just what i needed for the day. all that day i was feeling slow, and lethargic. to be honest i was just gonna sit through our class eagerly waiting to get out so i could get lunch and take a nap. the field trip quickly snapped me awake.
the lesson in the field trip was all about interactions. how Dr. Borders interacted with the bees was related to how we interact with society, specifically Huntingdon. Dr. Borders learned how to interact with his bees not by sitting in a room and listening to someone tell him how to bee keep, he learned by going out and doing. gaining experience. he learned how to interact and be comfortable with the bees so much so that he can now do it without full body protection.
i think what Dr. Borders was trying to get across was that to figure out who you are cant be learned or taught in an institution. its learned by going out and creating experiences for yourself that shapes who you wanna be. i like this new idea of being guided but learning on our own, not being dictated life with pen and paper.

I also really like this idea of interaction to gain learning. The problem however, is that society today will not allow us to be successful based off of interaction and experience. If we don't attend classes and sit through lectures then our grades slip, if our grades slip then we lose our chances of getting an incredibly successful career. I hate the fact that our society works in that way but it is universal. I say let's change it...one class at a time.
